Job Description

Scope:

Assists the Director of Housekeeping in managing housekeeping operations to include rooms, public areas and back of the house areas to achieve and maintain the hotel’s high standard of cleanliness.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting daily inspections of all areas cleaned by the Housekeeping Department including the guest rooms and public areas. Records all relevant information on the Housekeeping Inspection Report.
  • Inspect the cleaning of guest rooms to achieve a high level of cleanliness and guest satisfaction
  • Inspects the level of cleanliness in guest rooms, storage areas, laundry areas, restrooms and public areas.
  • Ensure company meet and exceed all cleanliness requirements.
  • Communicated with the Housekeeping Manager/Assistant Manager on Room Attendants progress and concerns.
  • Perform housekeeping duties if necessary to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Fill out work order tickets as needed and ensure unacceptable rooms are not released back to inventory until items are addressed
  • Responsible for notifying the Maintenance Department of any necessary repairs or maintenance work via the completion of maintenance work orders or verbal communication.
  • Responsible for assisting the Executive Housekeeper or Assistant Executive Housekeeper in completing room assignments for the Guest Room Attendants from the Housekeeping Report.
  • Responsible for serving as the Executive Housekeeper or Assistant Executive Housekeeper in their absence for days off, sick, vacation or other.
  • Responsible for wear appropriate uniform and maintain personal cleanliness
  • Responsible for performing “other” duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

Education/ Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and two years experience in housekeeping or similar industry, to include supervisory experience.  Special consideration will be given to those who exhibit exemplary performance.

Working Conditions:

  • Will be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Will be required to work in fast paced, stressful environment.
  • Will be exposed to and working with household chemicals.

Physical/ Cognitive Activities:

  • Since supervising a group of employees and inspecting their work is the major responsibility of this position, Assistant Director of Housekeeping spends a significant amount of their workday listening and speaking.
  • A great deal of time is spent inspecting rooms and public areas usually accomplished by walking to each area assigned, and communicating with employees.  A small amount of time is spent unlocking, opening, and closing such items as doors or drawers.
  • The person in this position spends a significant amount of time utilizing problem solving, counseling, reasoning, motivating, and training abilities.
  • Mathematical skills and reading abilities are used when preparing reports and reviewing the budget.
  • Communication devices such as the telephone or pager are frequently used for such functions as communicating with the housekeeping department while on the floor.
  • At times, a housekeeping inspector will assist the houseperson or room attendants by helping to clean rooms or public areas.  This will involve bending, and stretching etc.
  • Carrying and/or lifting approximately 50 pounds and pushing and/or pulling approximately 200 pounds occurs frequently.
