Job Description

Are you a self-starter who loves everything about pets? A pet company located in Petrolia, takes pride in caring for pets of various breeds and sizes. Their goal is to provide exceptional care while offering a safe and friendly environment to our pets and staff. As a Dog Handler you will be responsible for assuring the safety and wellbeing of the pets. To succeed, you’ll need a combination of animal care knowledge, communication abilities, and a genuine love for animals. You will be expected to maintain a positive and compassionate attitude toward both the animals and the pet owners while efficiently completing the day-to-day tasks of the kennel facility. When we receive a new client, it is important to start the process of finding a group of play buddies for this new pet. This requires staff to be able to determine pet’s temperaments and match them with other pets of similar temperaments. This is all done in a safe and secure environment.

The successful applicant will work in compliance with Employer and Procedures. The applicant will have a 3-month probation period and could be terminated without reason within this time frame. Employee evaluations will be conducted by the supervisor during this time. There is potential for growth within our company for the right candidate who possesses a great work ethic and passion for the work.

ours of Work: Weekends only (possibility of call-in on weekdays)

Wage: $17/Hr.

Start Date: ASAP

Length of Position: Permanent

Qualifications:

  • Professional and/or Personal Experience with dogs/cats
  • Experience in customer service
  • Experience working as a cashier/point sale/technology.

Skill, Ability and Experience

  • Customer Service and Relations
  • Ability to work with dogs and cats.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50lbs.
  • Team orientated.
  • Work independently and take initiative.
  • Ability to follow directions.

Principle Duties:

  • Provides care for dogs which includes:
    • Supervising play time
    • Ensuring pets have water and food is given following owners instruction.
    • Administration of medication to pets when owner has provided medications for pet stay.
    • Cleaning up after pets. Cleaning kennels and sanitizing once pets leave
    • Completing tasks assigned
