Mac-Weld Machining Ltd. is seeking a Senior Buyer to take on the task of sharing our vision locally and globally.

Skills & Responsibilities
Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets
Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations
Research and evaluate areas of opportunity to reduce costs where possible
Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement
Negotiate contracts, improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
Evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities
Explore alternate sources for goods and materials
Assess tenders and quotations from potential suppliers
Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers and in line with organizational targets and requirements
Contact suppliers in a professional manner to resolve price, quality, and delivery or invoice issues
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing or Business is an asset
3-5 years of buying/purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience with supplier managed inventory
Experience with Lean Manufacturing
Ability to read and understand technical drawings
Basic knowledge of metal fabrication
Strong Math Skills
Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
Experience with Microsoft Excel

This is a full-time permanent position in our Sarnia facility.

Salary: $50,000 – $70,000 annually based on education and experience

Signing Bonus: New regular employees will receive a signing bonus of $500 after successfully completing their three month probationary period, and $1000 after one year of continuous employment. The employee must be on active payroll for the entire timeframe to qualify. Contract positions do not qualify for the signing bonus.
