The Outside Sales Representative is responsible to conduct sales out in the field via face-to-face interactions with both potential and existing customers. They are responsible for offering the best possible customer experience as well as providing hands-on explanations of any new or updated products when necessary.
Skills & Responsibilities
- Contact potential and existing customers by cold calling, generating sales leads, and responding to sales inquiries to secure new and increased business accounts to meet established sales targets.
- Travel within sales territory to meet prospects and customers.
- Be a solution provider to customers by determining their needs and develop/recommend products or services and providing product quotes to customers.
- Scheduling appointments and visiting existing customers to review product needs and determining other opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with new and repeat customers.
- Maintain records of all sales leads and/or customer accounts.
- Monitor the company’s industry competitors, new products, and market conditions to understand a customer’s specific needs.
- Create and implement a sales strategy that ensures personal sales goals are met, as well as those set in place by Mac-Weld.
- Writing and submitting periodical reports based on sales and any other occurrences.
- Perform duties as efficiently as possible, reducing costs when possible, and maintain receipts for all job-related expenses and submit them to accounting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years demonstrated sales experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Business or related field.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing instrumentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly build rapport with both customers and suppliers.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working with little to no direction.
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Able to work comfortably in a fast paced environment.
- Strong organizational, operational, and planning skills in a customer service and sales focused environment.
Salary: $27-$31/hour
The Outside Sales Representative will travel frequently both within and outside of Canada. When s/he is not traveling, the Outside Sales Representative will be working primarily in an office setting with a good portion of time spent in a sitting position at a personal computer terminal.
Signing Bonus: New regular employees will receive a signing bonus of $500 after successfully completing their three month probationary period, and $1000 after one year of continuous employment. The employee must be on active payroll for the entire timeframe to qualify. Contract positions do not qualify for the signing bonus.
